Despite smartphones and social media, new research shows there is a rise in High School sports participation. This is so refreshing to see. So many kids are not receiving the daily activity of sports or outdoor recreation and this really bothers me. Where we live, there are kids very active in sports these days. Unfortunately, I frequently end up at the bus stop and realize the majority of kids do not play organized sports and really do not have much to look forward to after school, during winter & spring breaks or while left alone through the summer months.
As a soccer Dad, basketball & baseball Dad of very talented athletes 2 daughters & 1 son, I have been around enough to see the positive impact youth sports have on children going into adulthood. I started coaching soccer back in 1990 on a naval base in Virginia. After I returned to Utah, I went to college, got married and had children. Eventually, I started to coach again, when our daughter turned 4 for AYSO. We had quite a run with this team of local players! Some eventually ended up playing High School soccer together, or against each other and some even ended up receiving college scholarships for soccer and being roommates To say sports is a big part of our family lives is an understatement.
Our hope at Vevo Sports is that every kid has a basketball, football, soccer ball, volley ball, and/or playground equipment ball at school FULL OF AIR! A usable, playable, ball so they can enjoy the games they love.
How many times does a kid come home from school to go out and play basketball only to find the ball semi-flat and hard to bounce? This happens every day to children all over the world between the hours of 3:00 – 6:00 pm at the end of their school day, while Dad or Mom is at work. The kid soon realizes the agony and what it takes to fill his or her basketball with air and generally has to wait for Daddy to do this for them. The child loses interest quickly in the activity that was originally going to happen. Unfortunately, this means exercise and playtime outside, which are the things kids really need in today’s world, don’t happen. So now what? Our children go inside and probably turn on the TV to play video games or go to the smartphone to look online, losing the opportunity to play outside. This is sad. I, personally, could not stand for it any longer so I invented the Ball Spike inflation needles made of a high-grade plastic that is durable, flexible, bendable and comes in bright colors for kids to now use.
We have also provided a QUALITY ball pump that can fill a flat sports ball in 30 seconds. Armed with a quality pump and a quality inflation needles, made here in the USA our kids now have the chance to enjoy the experience of filling their own flat basketball, football, soccer ball etc; on their own without waiting for Dad or Mom to come home. They come shipped in reusable packaging so you no longer loose lose inflation needles in the grass or in the bottom of your gym bag. For the soccer moms out there that may be raising a family on your own, without a father figure in the home, this is for you! A quality ball pump with fun colored inflation needles that are easy to use and durable will help keep your kids active and their sports balls full of air and ready for practice after school. Every parent should have one in the kitchen drawer for the kids to use! Let’s keep kids off the couch and healthy and active! This will make our school systems better and our kids more behaved, our communities better and lastly the world.
There is nothing like that feeling of having a team mate and what it means to go to battle and win a game. Nothing like it in the world! So help us change the way kids play and have fun. Let everyone know about our website vevosports.com or ballspike.com. You can find the Ball Flate inflation pumps and Ball Spike inflation needles right there. Together we can get more kids active and participating in organized sports. If you know of a neighbor or a schoolmate that you see needs some attention or help and direction this way, I encourage you to reach out to them, see how you can encourage that child to sign up for baseball or softball, soccer this spring. See how you can find them a coach or a team to play on. A lot of these kids just do not have parent involvement, or worse, dad or mom could be in jail or experiencing a hardship at this time. This is where we can step in and help make a change in a young person’s life. There are scholarships for these kids with most clubs and teams. Look into this and please don’t overlook the disadvantaged kids. Everyone deserves a chance to play regardless of financial means or social status. A quality coach would never turn a player away who wants to play, regardless of their ability to pay.
